This song was written for a friend of mine to use in a video they would be running all summer at her camp in Maryland called reCHARGE. As a song writer I always thought instrumentals would be easier to write due to there being no lyrical content to have to work through. This project proved that notion wrong. What I realized, as I stared at the piano not knowing how to create a 4:30 minute piece of music for the first time in awhile, was that l leaned on lyrics and the structure they provided more than I knew. Fortunately I was able to hit a pretty chord that lit the creative spark to compose this piece about an hour into brainstorming. I titled it "begin" because it was in fact a beginning, not only from a literal standpoint, but from an awareness standpoint, that if you work hard and push yourself to make something good, something worth listening to, you just might succeed.
