This is a song that we wrote on the way to Atlanta in the writing period before we would go into the studio. It was nice because it was a different setting to write in, but one where ideas flowed very naturally. We wanted to write a song that told a story with the theme intertwined throughout, reaching it's climax in the outro where it all would come together into a complete thought, hope. We actually recorded it twice in the studio in two different keys. We had a live key we normally played it in, and another key a step lower in case my throat was beat up and couldn't reach the high notes clearly and precisely at the end. We decided to go with the lower version because it allowed us to get more done in the studio quickly on the vocal front, and it allowed the song to be much bigger at the end due to the lowness of the chords.
lyrics
feel the warmth of your skin against mine
I hope not for the last time
stay
don’t close your eyes
look into mine
if it keeps life inside
than I’m fine
still
and your smile sings gently over me
and I don’t think I’ll ever leave
keep your hand tight
hold onto mine
if it keeps life inside than I’m fine
still
I cling to the dream of you waking wrapped up in me
stay
and your smile sings gently over me
and I don’t think I’ll ever leave
your love is all I need
your love is over me
your smile sings gently over me
your smile sings over me
your love is all I need
and I don’t think I’ll ever leave
